On the blogs...

Click here for an interview we did recently with Rachael from Domesstic.  In it, John talks about the evolution of Semihandmade's custom IKEA doors and the launch of our RE/DO line this Fall.

Thanks again, Rachael!

Sneak Peek of our RE/DO line coming this Fall....

The summer has been a blur in the wake of Dwell on Design in June, but we've managed to finally get a shot up from the RE/DO line we're launching this Fall.

While Semihandmade focuses exclusively on kitchens, RE/DO addresses the rest of the home by pinpointing the most versatile IKEA boxes which - through custom kits of doors, legs and tops – are quickly converted from everyday base, wall or pantry cabinets into bookcases, credenzas, and media cabinets.

Stay tuned for more photos and information the coming weeks!

Good Shepherd Charity Design Project

We were really pleased to be able to help our good friend Erica Islas from EMI Interior Design recently with her room at the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children in downtown LA.

Erica and host of other top LA designers volunteered time, sweat and labor re-doing 30 rooms at Good Shepherd with the help of tons of other talented and generous businesses and craftspeople.  Though a very small part of things, we were thrilled to be included.

For more information on this incredibly worthwhile and gratifying project, please click here.

And finally...

We knew we'd eventually get around to putting up a pic from the Dwell on Design Show.  Thanks yet again to our friend, Laure Joliet, for the great shot!

Post Dwell on Design...

So we had a great show and are still recovering.  Just found a nice mention on us at Casa Sugar.  Stayed tuned for some thoughts on the show and some of the exhibitors this year we really liked.

Just got a few pics from Frank and Elaine's new place in Manhattan Beach, CA - sequenced walnut and white lacquer for the kitchen, teak in the master!

Video Shoot's A Wrap!

Thanks again to Derrick and Armen for their time and expertise in helping us craft the first in a series of videos to be launched in preparation for June's Dwell on Design Show.  Nothing overly fancy or artsy, just an opportunity for us to better explain exactly who and what "Semihandmade" is: materials, the process, finished products.

Stay tuned for updates....

Alt Build Expo 2011 Re-cap

Thanks to everybody who stopped by the 8th annual Alt Build Expo show in Santa Monica, CA this past weekend.  Lots of great leads as the word on "custom doors for IKEA kitchens" continues to spread.

See you all at Dwell on Design next month!

Glo/MSN picks us as one of their "Ten Experts They're Loving!"

Thanks to Glo/MSN, and apologies in advance for looking so tired in the photo (but we've been busy!)....

Who we are

For some reason this never got posted, so here's a little something from our friends at Dwell Magazine that sorta encapsulates who we are, where we came from, and the direction we're headed...

Upcoming Shows....

Semihandmade is pleased to announce we will be exhibiting at the Alt Build Expo is Santa Monica, CA on May 6 and 7, and the Dwell on Design Show at the LA Convention Center, June 24-26.

As at past shows, we will be showcasing our latest selection of custom doors for IKEA cabinets in veneers, laminates, and reclaimed materials... and maybe even a few surprises.  Both shows are jam-packed with companies both stylish and sustainable, so if you're in Southern California (or are up for a road-trip), definitely pop by and say hello!
